Even though e-road bikes are relatively new in the world of pedal-assist bikes, their appeal to the cyclist is to growing. E-road bikes are no longer simply just bikes to play around on- More often, they’re considered real road bikes for cyclists who need support during their ride.
They primary demands of a classic road cyclist are the same as those who approach the world of e-road bikes; Lightness, rigidity and speed are of top importance. To create an e-road bike in line with the needs of consumers, it is necessary to integrate the propulsion system in the least invasive way possible, as not to constrain the designers in the construction of a stiff, aerodynamic , and light frame.
The Pinarello DYODO, that is arriving to US market uses one of the smallest and lightest propulsion systems on the market, the MAHLE ebikemotion X35 system which enable our designers to build a real road racing bike around it. The level of extreme integration reached between the frame and drive system brings the following benefits:
- Lightness of the bike
- Improved frame stiffness
- Increased aerodynamics
- Same riding feel as traditional bike
We’re no stranger to the Dyodo’s drive unit: the Ebikemotion X35 drive unit, It’s seriously light, offers assist to 20 mph, 250 W power and high torque, and is drag-free when the motor isn’t in use. A 250 Wh battery keeps the power flowing for about 60 miles, depending on how much assist you use. All in, Pinarello claims the entire system weighs in at just 7.7 pounds. An range-extending 250 Wh battery pack will be available at a later date. The complete Dyodo bike weighs only 26.5lbs and offers pedal assistance up to 20mph.
Controlling the motor is the iWoc ONE controller, which controls motor assist levels and displays battery life. The Ebikemotion app here works the same as ever; sync it via Bluetooth to your phone or smart watch, and the app offers real-time battery information, turn-by-turn navigation, auto-uploading to Strava, and more.
Congratulations to Pinarello for this amanzing eBike that entry by now only in the US market.
