Just a few days ago Orbea presented its economic data at the end of 2018, in which I highlight a spectacular growth of 26% over the previous year, with a total turnover of 127.5 million euros.
According to Gonzalo García de Salazar (Orbea’s worldwide sales manager), one of the main reasons for this success is “the favourable reception of our ‘Gain’ line of electric road bicycles in the German and UK markets. Due to their innovative design and efficient performance, these have been in great demand in these markets and in others.”
The perfect combination between Orbea, characterised at all times by the high value and careful attention to detail in its developments, and the technological progress that MAHLE ebikemotion brought to the Mallabia brand, have led to Orbea Gain revolutionising the market with a new concept of bicycle unheard of until that moment.
Orbea Gain completely changed the conception of what an electric bicycle was up until then, and the public responded with one of the best receptions ever recalled in the world of cycling.
With regard to the driving forces that boosted Orbea’s sales the most during 2018, García de Salazar has once again stressed the high incidence of its line of electric road bikes, while adding to this the dynamic “sell in” registered in mountain and road bikes.
Orbea Gain was the first great bicycle that our X35 system implemented, and we’re very pleased with the success of the Spanish brand internationally, being joined by other important premium brands worldwide that are also experiencing major growth in terms of sales and expansion .
